Summer is here, kids are home, and I am trying not to lose my mind already.  I decided to participate in the Moda Bakeshop Trifle-Dish-Sew-Along, which may have been a dumb decision on my part. Two days to piece each row?  Are they nuts?  I have a partially finished row, and some of the other fabrics picked out.  Part of my reason for doing it was to use up some scraps.  Which leads to a lot of extra work, since I don't buy pre-cuts. 

I did finish a couple of projcts over the last couple of weeks.  First were some Halloween coasters.

The one under the Coke bottle was finished back in February, and I still have 5 more to go.  But they will be ready for Halloween!

I also finished a project back for my wool knitting projects.

My cat LOVES wool yarn, and I have to very conscious about where I put them.  I had this fabric sitting for over 5 years!  I loved it too much to cut, so when I found these handles on sale, I thought perfect.  It is now holding 3 gorgeous balls of wool yarn for a felting project.  And the cat can smell it, but he can't get to it!

And this lovely little cowl will be ready when fall hits.  Which is never very long from June around here.

Lovely, soft, baby alpaca DH got me for Mother's Day.  In as close to olive green as he could get!

This week I'll see about finishing the piece work for Trifle quilt, and maybe finish that felting project.

Just little bit done this week!

Well I did it!  I finished the bathmat!  It was one of those projects that keep growing.  It was originally supposed to be 20 inches by 27 inches, and somewhere I got it 23 inches by 30 inches.  The upside is that every 2 rows equaled 1 inch.  The downside is I ran out of yarn.  About halfway through, I had to get 2 new cones of yarn and there is a nice line where the old yarn ran out!

But it feels so good under our feet, no one actually cares what it looks like! I'll make another with this pattern for when this one starts to wear out. 

I also finished a 4th of July/Memorial Day bunting for the kids' school auction.

I have no idea how much it went for.  I'm not sure how much I care.  I am glad the auction is over.  There is a lot of time and effort put into it, and this year seems to have gone rather well. 

This week I have no major plans.  I am making an apron from Edwardian/Victorian pattern set. I'm not sure which era it would be from.   I just know it goes almost to my ankles and will be very handy when I am canning this year.  I spent quite a bit of time picking a fabric that would "still be pretty with coffee and jam stains on it."  DH thought I was nuts, but the kids understood!

Birthday week!

This week we have 2 birthdays, me and S2.  We had S2's party on Saturday, so with all the party prep, I was surprised to actually get some sewing done!  First I made a bunting to go on the fence, but the weather was icky, so we hung it in the house in the entry way.

I had one pennant too many for the length, so I made a little one for the back of the birthday chair.

Somewhere in the house is also a crown I made for the birthday boy, but I have no idea where it went. 

I have no idea what is on the agenda this week.  I think we'll play it by ear and see what happens.
