Back to almost normal!!!!!!!

We had a headcold go around the house last week, so not much in the house was accomplished.  Although, last Friday S2 had his interview with our pastor for his Religious Emblem for Cub Scouts. YAY!!  One down, and one to go. S1 barely started his work for the high school level. He just isn't as excited as he used to be.  There is a vicious circle going on there.  If he doesn't care, I'm not going to worry about it, which leads to him not caring more, which leads to why should I worry about it, and the snowball rolls down the hill.  I did finish the following two projects, which really just needed binding.  And I can do binding in the recliner, using the bound project as an "extra" blankie while getting better.

This first one is a runner for our buffet, and antique from my great-grandma.  The cats keep using it as a ladder to get over the front door, so it needed something to protect it from their claws.  The best part is that I have now used up every bit of the cream batik fabric in the house.  I love it when the happens!  Although I kind of feel like I NEED to replace it with something!

This quilt is a 54 inch lap quilt to go with an auction basket next month.  The theme is American Pastimes, and has a red, white, blue color scheme.  I was trying to stay away from "patriotic" fabric, but I could only find 3 "normal" red/white/blue fabrics.  So it isn't quite what I wanted, but the ladies putting together the auction item are happy with it.  I will be dropping it off today!!! After I get the cat hair off it. (Cat hair is the seal of approval that I did a good job, at least it seems that way to the cats. And the kids, LOL.) If you look at the blocks you can see some of the star blocks I had done to get scraps used up.  That turned out better than I had hoped!  I used 6.5 inch blocks of fabric, and then added in all the red/white/blue start blocks and pieced it all together.  I'd like to do a quilt like that again for the house.

And....I finally got some squares done!  I had time to work on them while D1 was asleep on the sofa recovering from her time with the headcold.  The sewing machine still puts all the kids to sleep!

I am loving the black background with those brights!

Outside we did get dirt for the veggie beds, as well as peas and tomatoes planted.  I also got a pole for the peas to grow up.  I thought about having DH bolt one together for me, but he has enough going on right now.  And since planting time is almost over, stuff like that is on sale.  So at that point, the really pretty garden pole with the finial on top is just going to have to do.  I'm willing to make the sacrifice! :)  At some point I should take photos of the back yard, since it isn't quite what we started with, even though the asphalt is still there! GRRRR!!!!

Now, if only the sun would come back!!!!!
